A familiar storefront is the beginning of the inquiry. This illustration does not depict an actual Dollar Tree location.

Three reading cards distinguish responsibility, qualification and the unresolved question, keeping each in its original context.

READ THE ROLE

Read the job description before you picture the job

Turn the actual description into responsibilities, qualifications and answerable questions without supplying facts the posting leaves open.

THE COMPARISON DESK / A LOCAL QUESTION TOOL

Opportunity Comparison Desk

Choose which topics could change your decision. Build a question checklist to use privately for one or more real opportunities. Decision-critical topics come first; the remaining topics follow in the fixed order shown. Nothing is scored or ranked.

A complete example, with or without JavaScript

Fictional example: an applicant makes availability and travel decision-critical. No real person, store, opening or offer is represented. The checklist puts those two topics first and retains the other four topics for exploration.

  1. Resolve availability: ask which windows the role needs and whether they fit what you can reliably offer.
  2. Resolve travel: verify the actual location and relevant arrival and finish arrangements before checking your journey privately.
  3. Explore written terms: identify which statements are confirmed and which are conditional.
  4. Explore duties: ask how the responsibilities in the actual description fit together for a new hire.
  5. Explore learning: ask who provides initial instruction and answers questions.
  6. Explore start arrangements: confirm location, arrival instructions and an official contact before relying on a proposed date.

Use the same questions for each real opportunity and record answers privately with their sources. Unknown is an acceptable answer. This desk does not recommend a job or determine suitability, eligibility or legal rights.

THE PRACTICAL SIDE

A real decision
needs real details.

Keep the location, availability and written terms attached to the actual opportunity.

Six panels name terms, availability, travel, duties, learning and start. Availability and travel are highlighted as fictional priorities without ranking jobs.
Make decision-changing questions visible before comparing answers.
